With over €1 billion in sales, the US is the top foreign market into which Italian interior design firms are seeking to expand their activities. While it's true that the Chinese market is growing more quickly (with sales of Italian furniture up 27.5% in 2015), in absolute terms the US market remains by far the most important outside of the EU.
At this juncture, indeed, the American market offers Italian businesses two advantages: the growth rates of an emerging country (up +22.4% last year) with the volumes, structures, and operating conditions of a mature market. Not to mention that many companies have a long experience in operating on the other side of the Atlantic (200 firms have established sales networks, sales offices, and regional branches).
