An Italian supermarket chain has unveiled its store of the future, in which shelves are replaced with market-style tables and interactive touch screens. The Coop store, which follows this week's announcement of Amazon's checkout-less supermarkets, is in Milan and intends to recreate the atmosphere of open-air markets. A touch application enables consumers to search through product categories for the most suitable products and discover promotions, while screens around the store display promotions and cooking suggestions as well as social media posts on Coop's Facebook account.
