An excellent harvest using the standards of last year. That is what is ahead for the 2016 Italian wine label according to forecasts made by the Italian Wine Union and by ISMEA (Institute of Services to the Agricultural and Food Market controlled by the Ministry of Agricultural Policies).
These estimates will be officially presented today, Tuesday, September 6, at the Mipaaf (Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, Ed's note) and that Il Sole 24 Ore-ItalyEurope 24 is able to disclose. The 2016 production should reach 48.4 million hectoliters, a slight drop (-2%) compared to the excellent vintage 2015 when over 49 million hectoliters of wine were produced by the vineyards, a result that had not been reached since 2006.
