The A6G 2000 was built as a replacement for the A6 1500 series. Displacement on the A6GCS engine was carefully engineered to increase from 90 to 100 horsepower, enabling a top speed of 180km/h.
At the 1950 Turin Motor Show, Maserati introduced the A6G 2000 in two both a four-seater two-door sedan and a convertible. The latter was designed by Pietro Frua. Maserati sold 16 of these cars between 1950 and 1951.
