The Mille Miglia has a nearly 90-year history, but looks younger than its real age. Rather, it is as lively as it used to be in its early days, when it was "the most beautiful race in the world" (as Enzo Ferrari called it).
For thirty years, from 1927 to 1957, the Mille Miglia ran across half of Italy, along its 1,700 km-odd route amid dust whirlwinds and along crowd-lined roads, showcasing the best of the automotive era, so that "the Drake" said that "the race has taught Italians how to build cars."
