Shooters Diana Bacosi and Gabriele Rossetti of Italy defeated Austen Smith and Vincent Hancock of the United States 45-44 to win gold in the skeet mixed team as the event made its Olympic debut here on Monday. Rossetti, individual winner at Rio 2016, and Bacosi led in the qualification with 149 hits earlier on Monday, equaling the world record.
They rode on that momentum in the gold medal event, leading all the way to top the podium. "We did it together. I was not alone during the whole competition. We supported each other. We have achieved this medal together, and we couldn't win it by ourselves alone," said Bacosi.
