More medals for Italy at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. Stefano Raimondi won the silver medal in the 200 mixed swimming category Sm10. For the 23-year-old from Verona, this is the seventh medal at these Games. Third place also for Federico Mancarella, who won the bronze in the kayak 200 meters category kl2. The gold went to the Australian Curtis McGrath, while the silver went to the Ukrainian Mykola Syniuk.

In all, the Italians won 62 medals. Shortly before, Italian Ndiaga Dieng had won the bronze medal in the 1,500-meter flat category t20. The race was won by Britain's Owen Miller, while the silver was won by Aleksandr Rabotnitskii of the Russian Paralympic Committee.

"I don't know what to say, I'm very happy. I worked so hard for the 1500, I always aim for the best but this bronze came and I'm happy. I was looking forward to be here," said Ndiaga Dieng speaking in the mixed zone of the Olympic Stadium right after the final. "I dedicate this medal to my family, my coach and the Vis Macerata athletics guys," he added.

Assunta Legnante also won silver in the weight throw in the f12 category, bringing her haul to 60. The competition was won by the Uzbek Safiya Burkhanova. Bronze to the Mexican Rebeca Valenzuela Alvarez. Some regrets for Legnante: "It's a pity for the third throw, but what I reproach myself for is that you can't do 14.25 while standing and 14.62 while moving". Finally, Federico Mancarella won the bronze medal in the kayak 200 meters category kl2. The gold went to Australia's Curtis McGrath and the silver to Ukraine's Mykola Syniuk.
