Italy has won the medal table at the 2022 World Championships in rhythmic gymnastics. This is a historic first for the Bel Paese, which was able to dominate the rainbow event. Our national team returns home with 6 golds (out of the nine available), 1 silver and 2 bronzes. Before the end of the event, in fact, Italy won another gold. Taking the first place on the podium were the "Butterflies" who brought home the victory in the team competition in the 5-hoops.
The team of the Butterflies consists of: Alessia Maurelli, Martina Centofanti, Agnese Duranti, Daniela Mogurean and Laura Paris, all from the Aeronautica Militare sports group. A team that had also won at the World Championships in Pesaro in 2017. The Italian 'Butterflies' then also won the silver medal in the mixed exercise, 3 ribbons and 2 balls.
