Designed by world-renowned architects Zaha Hadid, Napoli Afragola can legitimately claim to be a station of the future. Italy’ Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni arrived on a Frecciarossa 1000 on June 6 to formally open the station, which is located to the north of the city’s international airport.
London-based architects Zaha Hadid began designing the station, which has been built by Astaldi, in 2003. Napoli Afragola will welcome 36 high-speed trains a day – half of which will be operated by Trenitalia and half by open access operator NTV.
