The Shanghai Global ranking of academic subjects rewards our universities, which achieve several excellent rankings. The absolute best is that of the Federico II in Naples, which is third in the world for Pharmacy. It is followed by the European University Institute of Fiesole in the Florence province, Tuscany, which gets sixth in the world ranking for Political Science.
Università La Sapienza of Rome is 12th for Physics, the same position for the University of Turin in Business Administration, the Politecnico di Milano is 15th in Aerospace Engineering, a discipline in which the Italian system excels since it manages to place three other universities among the top 50 in the world: La Sapienza (20th), the Politecnico di Torino (25th), La Federico II (26th).
The same applies to Pharmacy where, in addition to Naples' bronze, there is the 30th place of Statale di Milano, Sapienza's 31st and Florence's 39th. Italy also stands out in Agricultural Sciences (Florence 29th, Turin 35th, Federico II 36th and Padua 44th) and Veterinary Sciences (Bologna 30th, Padua 32nd, Milan's Statale 34th and Pisa 48th). The University of Padua is 28th in Water Resources, the University of Trento 33rd in Remote Sensing (remote sensing). The Free University of Bolzano is 47th in Business Administration and Sant'Anna of Pisa 48th in Public Administration.
