Francesco Molinari set an incredible new record after playing a decisive role in Europe’s Ryder Cup victory over USA. The Italian’s partnership with Tommy Fleetwood yielded four points over the opening two days to help Thomas Bjorn’s side create a potentially decisive 10-6 lead over the holders.
Out on his own, the Italian continued his sensational form with a crushing 4&2 victory over Phil Mickelson and delivered the point that guaranteed Europe the trophy they surrendered at Hazeltine two years ago. Molinari’s flawless five-from-five record, coupled with his Open win at Carnoustie earlier this summer, means he is the first man ever to win a major and post a 100% record in an individual Ryder Cup.
