In true Google Doodle style, the 360th birthday of Italian music man Bartolomeo Cristofori, the inventor of the fortepiano, is being celebrated on the homepage of the search engine site. We too, at Swide, are celebrating the inventor's birthday and I am taking a look at the inventions that have become commonplace today and not really given much of a second thought... let alone as to whether they were invented in Italy or not.

Yes they have the likes of Leonardo da Vinci (see his top 10 inventions here) and they can claim responsible for the creation of highway, ballet and, of course, pizza, but did you know that the MP3 is an Italian invention?
