Tucked in the northwest corner of Italy in the Piedmont region is Turin, a regal city that often escapes the limelight. Thanks to its proximity to the French border, it has a unique flair that some have suggested is less quintessentially Italian. But given that it was home of the Savoy royal family and once served as the national capital, its spirit is every bit Italian as can be. Turin boasts a certain air of grandeur but it’s in no way pretentious.
A weekend in Turin isn’t nearly enough time to explore everything it has to offer, but it’s a great starting point. To make the most of a short visit, tailor your itinerary to your own personal interests. Whether you’re an art and history buff, sports and auto fanatic, or lover of fine dining and shopping, there’s something for everyone in this metropolitan city.
