Some years ago, Remnant columnist Chris Jackson penned an article on the little-known fact that a number of Fathers of the First Vatican Council had actually submitted a petition to the Pope to initiate the canonization of Christopher Columbus.
Mr. Jackson unearthed the following excerpt from an article written by Rev. A. Knight which tells that story – the article first appeared in The Month of Catholic Review of 1876. Longtime readers of The Remnant print edition may recall the late, great Solange Hertz’s serialized articles in The Remnant back in the 1990s all about Christopher Columbus and the black legends that sought to besmirch his good name.
