Castaldo, an award winning, Italian tenor, who sings in the style of Andrea Bocelli, is honoring the song in English and Latin because it's so relevant in the lives and background of all of us in this country today. "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" is a Christian Advent hymn. One is immediately gets into the Christmas spirit when hearing his beautiful and monastic drone-inspired rendition of this song. When putting his voice to a particular melodic song, the results are nothing short of wondrous. Castaldo's rich operatic voice, strong but soft, is perfect in pitch and tempo and always on key.

According to Wikipedia, "The words and the music of 'O Come, O Come, Emmanuel' developed separately. The Latin text is first documented in Germany in 1710, whereas the tune most familiar in the English-speaking world has its origins in 15th-century France... Because 'O Come, O Come Emmanuel' is a metrical hymn in the common 88.88.88.88 meter scheme, it is possible to pair the words of the hymn with any number of tunes. (In fact, it is this quality that allows the English and Latin words to be used interchangeably, as the English translations of the hymn retain the meter of the original Latin.)"

Michéal was inspired to record the song after Fr. Jonathan Morris of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in the Bronx, New York, asked him to include a advent song for their Christmas concert. After listening to many versions by diverse artists, he took a tonal cue from Enya and Kelly Clarkson.

Castaldo, who studied music at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, has toured North America and Europe, including performances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Rainbow Room, Shea Stadium, Toronto's Queen Elizabeth Theatre, and Italy's Teatro F. Cilea and Pescara Opera House. His passionate performances consistently thrill audiences with sweeping romanticism.
