The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) is now accepting applications for its 2020-2021 scholarship program. Over the past 44 years, NIAF’s scholarship program has grown to offer 29 different scholarships with various criteria ranging in value from $2,500 to $12,000. NIAF offers scholarships in the fields of Italian language and culture, medicine, engineering, business, law, music and other specialized fields.
“The National Italian American Foundation is proud to continue its longstanding tradition of awarding merit-based scholarships to institutions and students across America,” said NIAF’s Scholarships and Grants Committee Co-chairs Linda R. Carlozzi and Dr. John P. Rosa.
“On average, NIAF awards $1 million annually to deserving undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate, medical and law students pursuing their dreams of higher education. Our scholarships and grants programs are a core mission of NIAF, which supports Italian American students as they pursue their career goals.”
Scholarship applicants must be a NIAF member or have a parent or guardian who is a member of the Foundation. Applicants must also be enrolled in or entering an accredited college or university in the United States in the fall of 2020. For the purposes of the NIAF scholarships program, to be considered “Italian American,” the applicant must have at least one ancestor who has emigrated from Italy; applicants must also be U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens.
