As the training ship Amerigo Vespucci, which set sail from Genoa on July 1, 2023, approaches its arrival at the port of Los Angeles on July 2, 2024, the Italian community in the United States is preparing to welcome this historic vessel, the oldest in the Italian Navy.
Italian Ambassador to Washington DC, Mariangela Zappia, will be in California for the occasion, following her recent inauguration of the “Italian Navy: Ocean Stories” exhibition in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Washington. This prestigious ship is on a historic journey around the world, visiting five continents and crossing three oceans.
