Naperville's first new mayor in two decades is Steve Chirico, a current councilman, according to unofficial results. Chirico was among four candidates who vied for the spot in this historic race as Mayor George Pradel, 77, stepped down after 20 years leading this suburb of about 145,000 residents.
Chirico said he believes Naperville residents responded to the positive campaign he ran. "We had a good message, and we stayed with our message throughout the campaign," he said.
