Ferragosto is an Italian holiday celebrated on August 15, so it's perfect that this year it will be on a Saturday. This dinner and party will be the official kick-off event for the new South Florida Italian Culture & Heritage Festival. Initially, we planned on doing this at the beach, but learned that our plans to serve wine would violate the public beaches' "no alcohol" policies.

So, we'll be creating an intimate, lovely outdoor picnic atmosphere at Gino's in Hollywood. There will be tents, tables, food, wine and music. In this way, it will be very similar to the Ferragosto events held in villages in Italy, especially in the South of Italy because this event is very much about family and community. Gino's will prepare both traditional Italian and Italian American foods and beverages.

We'll have candles and flowers and if you like, dress up a little, or come completely casual as you wish.

And yes, we plan on dancing and singing. So if you know any musicians who can play traditional Italian music ask them to bring their instruments and be prepared for an impromptu talent show!
