La Scala has rarely seen a more fashionable— and powerful — audience. Giorgio Armani, Prada's Patrizio Bertelli, Stefano Pilati, Diego Della Valle, Alberta Ferretti, Renzo Rosso, Roberto Cavalli, Frida Giannini and a healthy sampling of Ferragamos, Zegnas, Missonis and Marzottos were among industry heavyweights who joined a battalion of Condé Nast brass for a bespoke performance of opera classics by tenor Vittorio Grigolo on Wednesday night.
The musical moment punctuated a day when the American publishing company unveiled a new initiative to boost Milan as a fashion capital, teaming with five prestigious Italian universities to present five students with academic scholarships in fashion, film, art and journalism.
