As early construction begins, the vision for the reimagined Little Italy food hall is coming into focus just months after its abrupt closure. Tucked away in the European-inspired Piazza della Famiglia on Date Street–between India Street and Columbia Street–is a quiet corner.
After it closed in February, the lively food hall that once occupied the space is no longer part of the scene and it caught locals off guard. “I would go in after I go to the farmer’s market, so I was really surprised when it closed,” said Cathy Vu, who works in the area.
