How beautiful are our Alps, and how much can we learn from them and their people? Well, here in Italy, among other things, you can add a foreign language or two to the mix!
Take Valle d’Aosta and Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, for instance: they are both known for their landscapes, tourism and strong regional identities, but it’s perhaps another element that stands out immediately to visitors: signs, schools and institutions function in more than one language. French remains official in Valle d’Aosta, while German and Ladin coexist with Italian in South Tyrol.
