Il Newyorchese, from newspaper to silver screen

A project that began as a voice for Italians living in New York is now taking a major step into the world of cinema. Filming has officially started in New York City for a new romantic comedy inspired by the experiences, challenges, and aspirations of Italians who chose to build a life in the United States.

The movie is connected to Il Newyorkese, a publication that has become a familiar point of reference for the Italian community in the city. Over the years, the newspaper has evolved beyond journalism, becoming a platform that explores the everyday realities of Italian life in America and the unique relationship between New York and Italy.

Leading the project is journalist and entrepreneur Davide Ippolito, who wrote and directed the film. The production is being developed by N41 Studios, with Simone D'Andria and Emanuele Scamardella joining the creative team. Their goal is to bring to the screen a contemporary story that reflects both the excitement and the emotional complexity of starting over in a new country.

Production is taking place in some of New York's most recognizable neighborhoods, allowing the city itself to become an essential character in the story. Rather than focusing solely on success and opportunity, the film explores what happens after the decision to leave home has been made – the relationships, sacrifices, and personal growth that follow.

The cast features Alice Lussiana Parente and Marco Fanizzi, two young actors whose careers have developed between Italy and the United States. Their international backgrounds mirror the themes at the center of the film and help bring authenticity to a story shaped by cultural connections across the Atlantic.

Music for the project is being composed by Cristiano Cosa, whose previous collaborations with the filmmakers have contributed significantly to the emotional atmosphere of their productions. The film will also include a special appearance by musician Davide Pannozzo.

The initiative follows the success of New York Solo Andata, a documentary that attracted a large audience by examining the motivations and experiences of Italians who moved abroad. While that project focused on the journey toward a new life, this feature film turns its attention to what comes next.

By combining romance, humor, and reflections on identity, the production aims to tell a universal story through an Italian American perspective. As filming continues, the project represents another example of how the cultural ties between Italy and New York continue to inspire new forms of storytelling and creative collaboration.
