A Life Remembered: Amelia Caira

For Amelia Caira, her family was her life. Her hard work and family values in turn shaped the lives of those in her family. “She had pride in her home, her family and her kids,” said her daughter, Lena Schlater. Amelia was “quiet and very respectful,” but also had a fun side to her, she said. The two most outstanding things about Amelia for her granddaughter Peggy Kormylo were that “she loved to cook and she was very funny.”

On Oct. 27, Amelia Caira died in Kenosha. Surviving her are her husband, Mario Caira; a daughter, Lena (Fred) Schlater; sons Reno Caira and Tony (Terry Hartnell) Caira; brothers Franchino (Olimpia) Chiappetta and Leo (Marikay) Chiappetta; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
