The Metropolitan Opera has announced plans for Daniele Rustioni in the company’s seasons. In a New York Times article, the principal guest conductor revealed that he will lead at least one blockbuster title a season, including “Tosca” and “Turandot.” He is also scheduled to do a revival of Verdi’s “Otello” and a new production of “Simon Boccanegra.”
There are also plans for Rustioni to conduct Berg’s “Lulu.” In the interview, General Manager Peter Gelb said the reason for the house to have a Principal Guest Conductor was due to Music Director Yannick Nezet-Seguin’s busy schedule.
