Mother Cabrini – Patroness of Immigrants March 15th

NOIAW’s Greater Washington, DC and Rhode Island Regions invite you to join us for an online presentation on the life and work of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini (1850-1917), popularly known as “Mother Cabrini,” a determined Italian nun who together with seven other sisters founded a missionary order and at Pope Leo XIII’s request, traveled “not East, but West,” from Italy to New York in 1889 to provide healthcare, education, and other social services to thousands of Italian immigrants in need.

Born in a small village outside Milan, and canonized a saint in 1946, Mother Cabrini was declared Patroness of Immigrants in 1950. Her order, together with its lay affiliates and volunteers, continues this work today on six continents and 17 countries throughout the world.
