The Mount Carmel Preservation Society has not given up after losing a Historical Commission vote last month, filing an appeal to a church merger that signals the Catholic Diocese of Worcester is moving on from the historic church and requesting input on a committee to determine next steps for the building.
MPS President Mauro DePasquale told members in an email that the fight was not over, despite a Historical Commission decision that killed the possibility of a historic district designation for the Mulberry Street property and clears the way for the Diocese to demolish the property in May when a historic building delay runs out.
