Neapolitan R&B artist Livio Cori reaches Hollywood

The documentary “Luntano,” dedicated to the music project of the same name by Livio Cori, was presented in U.S. Premiere in Hollywood as part of the Los Angeles Italia Film Festival, one of the leading international events dedicated to Italian cinema and culture in the United States.

The screening took place at the prestigious TCL Chinese Theatre, the historic Hollywood cinema that has hosted some of the most important international film premieres for nearly a century.

Directed by Cosimo Mainardi and co-directed by Livio Cori, the film follows the Neapolitan artist during his creative journey between Naples and Los Angeles, documenting the making of the EP Luntano and the personal path that accompanies his artistic evolution. The documentary unfolds as an intimate story exploring themes of identity, distance, and transformation.

As Livio Cori himself explains: “For me, Luntano is not just a physical distance, but an inner condition. Going to Los Angeles to create music was something I had carried inside me for years, but that journey turned out to be far more personal than I expected. Being away from home forced me to confront myself and the choices I’ve made.”

The documentary follows the artist’s creative process through studio sessions, moments of reflection, and his encounter with the city that has influenced his musical imagination since his teenage years.

Director Cosimo Mainardi describes the origins of the project as follows: “When we started filming, I didn’t want to tell a story about success, but to observe the journey. In the film, Naples and Los Angeles are not just two cities: they are two cultural forces shaping an artist’s identity.”

Born and raised in Naples, Livio Cori is an artist who blends contemporary R&B with Neapolitan culture, singing in the Neapolitan dialect over sounds influenced by American urban music. During his career he has gained significant recognition, performing at the Sanremo Music Festival alongside Nino D’Angelo and portraying the character “O’ Selfie” in the cult TV series Gomorrah.

The documentary is produced by Heartist, an independent music label and platform based in Amsterdam, founded by Alberto Marenco. Heartist develops and produces cultural projects that combine music, storytelling, and audiovisual content, distributing them initially through a digital ownership model aimed at the most engaged fans and conscious listeners.

The Luntano project represents the first case study of this model: a work that combines a music EP, a documentary, and extended narrative content, conceived as a single cultural asset distributed directly to fans before its release on streaming platforms.

“Heartist was created to address a structural limitation of the contemporary music industry: while streaming has made music accessible everywhere, the concept of digital ownership and a direct relationship between artist and fan remains largely underdeveloped.”

The documentary “Luntano” is currently available exclusively on the Heartist platform (www.heartist.app), where it can be purchased together with the EP of the same name and additional exclusive content related to the project.

The EP Luntano by the Neapolitan artist, consisting of three tracks, is available on all major streaming platforms.
