Short track: Italy's Sighel bags gold and silver at worlds

Italy's Pietro Sighel on Saturday won a gold and a silver at the world short track speed skating championships in Seoul, Italy's first male gold in the championships for 24 years. The 23-year-old from Trento first won gold in the 500-metre race, thanks to a stunning last lap that allowed him to move up from third to first place.

Then, in the 1,500-metre race, he also put the silver medal around his neck: on the finish line he was only preceded by the Korean Park Ji-Won, the big favourite on the eve of the race, and the Canadian Steven Dubois. The latter, however, was then disqualified, leaving the Fiamme Gialle athlete with second place.
