This is the funniest looking bread in Italy, and it can only be found in this UNESCO protected town

One of my favorite things to do when visiting Italy is heading to small enclaves and trying hyper-niche regional food. You won't find tartufo di PIzzo in many towns other than Calabria's Pizzo, and if you're seeking spaghetti all'assassina, you won't find it in many other places outside of Bari.

One of my favorite unique breads in my years of field research of eating my way around Italy was found in Ferrara, a city in Emilia Romagna that is entirely UNESCO World Heritage-protected. The bread I speak of is Coppia Ferrarese, a funny looking twisted bread with a crunchy light texture.
