Vito’s Kitchen: Something different in Springfield's competitive restaurant industry

Stepping into Vito’s Kitchen in downtown Springfield is a little like stepping into someone’s home. The walls are decorated with family photos; framed hand-written family recipes line the hallway; the omelet pan that Vito’s grandma used daily dangles along with other utensils; and Vito’s children often wait tables.

“The best thing about it is he’s developed such a homey feel,” said Amy Hopkins, a regular customer. “It’s casual. You usually see someone you know and can go from table to table. He always comes over and says hello. He has a larger-than-life personality.”
