A 10-week basic conversational Italian course will begin Monday, Oct. 21 at La Famiglia Deli, 1327 6th Ave., Huntington. Instructor for the sessions, which run from 7 to 9 p.m., will be John Patrick Grace, who served as an Associated Press correspondent in Rome in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He has a master's degree in Italian/French and a doctorate in Italian/medieval studies from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He has taught Italian at the University of North Carolina-Greensville and also in France at L'Universite de Pau and L'Ecole Superieure de Commerce.
The course will emphasize learning correct Italian pronunciation, basic verb forms, asking questions and basic vocabulary for tourists. The cost of the course is $185, with a discount rate for Marshall University students of $165.
