Brian Gionta (Rochester, N.Y.) will serve as captain of the U.S. Men’s National Select Team at the 2017 Deutschland Cup, it was announced today by USA Hockey. The event runs from Nov. 10-12 in Augsburg, Germany, and includes the U.S., host Germany, Slovakia and Russia.
Gionta has represented Team USA at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy, the IIHF Men’s World Championship (2000, 2001, 2005), the IIHF World Junior Championship (1998, 1999) and also played with Team USA at the 2004 Deutschland Cup.
