Dear Friends of Italian Innovators, this month I take you to Naples to explore the story of the city’s most renowned tie shop, founded by Eugenio Marinella in 1914, on the eve of WWI. Over the course of the 20th century, his brand became a symbol of Italian style and excellence, creating a unique approach to tie making.

In this episode I tell you the story and cultural context of Marinella’s beginnings, and explore the traits of the company’s particular aesthetics. You’ll hear about the military origins of neckties and the impact of the “air” of Naples on the aura of Marinella’s designs. Enjoy this new Neapolitan episode of #italianinnovators and let me know what you think.
