An awards dinner was held at the Italian American Sport Club this past weekend in Gates. Several folks and groups were recognized for their contributions to the community. The special event honored Frank DiMino. His donations have helped with building improvements, a new parking lot and even a bocce ball court.
In addition, roughly $25,000 was distributed among six high school and college students as part of club’s first ever Frank DiMino Scholarship. ”My Italian teacher wrote me a letter of recommendation, and I wrote a 500 word essay about how being bilingual and knowing Italian is so important, and then I submitted my transcript,” said Emily Bub, a scholarship winner.
