Go! The California Mille Kicks Off from the Fairmont

Yesterday I had the distinct honor of waving the start flag in front of the Fairmont Hotel to mark the beginning of the 23rd annual California Mille vintage car tour. Was it the standard green flag, like in NASCAR? Not for the California Mille, a race inspired by the 1000 mile race that ran between Rome and Brescia from 1927 to 1957. It was the tricolore that sent the engines vrooming away from the city into the lush California hills.
