After the public and critics' success at the Fantasia International Film Festival 2017 in Montréal and at the L’Étrange Festival 2017 in Paris, the Italian movie “The Laplace’s Demon” also comes to the United States. The film, in the original language with subtitles in English, will be screened on October 15 at 6 pm at TCL Chinese 6 Theaters in Hollywood on the occasion of the 17th edition of Screamfest Horror Film Festival.
An independent feature film produced by AstroLab Pictures, made in over seven years of work, starting with the question of French mathematician and physicist Pierre Simon Laplace, linked to determinism and a hypothetical world dominated by the laws of classical mechanicism, develops a rich and full of tension plot.
Eight people remain locked in a secluded villa in the middle of the sea. Here they come across a scale model of the villa itself, on which eight self-propelled pawns reproduce in real time their every movement. Is it therefore possible to foresee the future of every occurrence?
The film, inspired by some of the great classics of American cinema, also recovers some technical solutions used at the time, such as the rearprojected backdrop, combining them with the contemporary tools of Computer Graphics, thus obtaining an unusual look and a unique atmosphere. These techniques contributed to the recognition of the Audience Award “Silver Prize” in the "Most Innovative Feature Film" category at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montréal.
Director Giordano Giulivi and producers of the film will be present at the screening to meet the audience and answer any questions.
