During World War II, some 600,000 Italians in America found their freedoms restricted by the U.S. government. The Italian Cultural Society of LBI invites the public to view the sobering cinematic account of their ordeal, “Potentially Dangerous,” at the Long Beach Island branch of the Ocean County Library in Surf City (NJ) on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m.
The award-winning documentary produced by actor-director John Turturro details the tribulation of several hundred thousand people who suddenly became identified as “enemy aliens” and found their movements monitored and actions scrutinized.According to the film, many were placed under curfew. Others were banned from their places of employment.
