Prof. Giancarlo Lombardi (CUNY) will examine the most recent Italian TV Series hosted and/or produced by renowned global streamers, and discuss how they achieve global appeal retaining their Italian uniqueness. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A with the audience and a light refreshment will be served.
Giancarlo Lombardi (Ph.D., Cornell University) is Professor of Comparative Literature and Film Studies at CUNY. His research interests focus on Contemporary Italian, French, English and American Literature, as well as on Film and TV Studies. Dr. Lombardi published extensively on both Literature and Film; in particular, many of his writings are dedicated to the representation of Terrorism in Italian Cinema. His most recent book is titled "Nuovo cinema politico", co-edited with Christian Uva. Oxford: Peter Lang, 2016; while his most recent article is fascinately titled “The Literary in TV, or Why We Should Teach TV Series in Literature Departments” (2021).
