More than 100 golfers hoped for a hole-in-one Wednesday during the annual West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival golf tournament at Bridgeport Country Club. The turnout was the highest in the fundraiser’s history of more than 20 years, according to Eric Spatafore, tournament co-chair.
“We had 27 teams and we’re completely sold out,” Spatafore said. “All the past players have had a lot of fun, and I do new things each year to make it more of an enjoyable experience and create more of a value for those participants — plus I had a lot of help.” Music was featured during lunch before the 12:30 p.m. start, as well as at the No. 8 hole, and golfers had a chance to win a car during a hole-in-one contest or prizes on No. 8.
