In memory of Sal Spinnato who grew up in Little Italy, was a bocce player, past president of the Little Italy Lodge, immersed in the parish and neighborhood, and a treasured friend to many, the Spinnato Family purchased and placed a new bench in Little Italy's bocce courts in memory of their brother/uncle/father.
Father Bernie Carman, pastor of Saint Leo's, blessed the bench during a dedication last Sunday among approximately 100 attendees. Fifty people then attended a luncheon afterwards at Chiapparelli's Restaurant, Sal's favorite. "I know Sal was looking down and saying, 'That's my family and friends!'" said his sister, Sue Walmsley. "It was a beautiful day, and everything went off without a hitch!"
