The Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) is inviting a track & field team from the USA to compete in the CONI Youth Games in Italy, June 2-8, 2013. To try out, youth must be ages 11-13 and at least 1/4 Italian. 12 track & field athletes from the US will be selected to travel to Italy (all expenses paid) to compete with kids from all over the world and learn about the Italian language and culture. This is an athletic and educational endeavor on part of CONI and offers a once in a lifetime experience for kids.
Trials for the Youth Games will be on May 4th at 2:00pm at St. Ignatius High School in Chicago. Athletes will compete in 100m sprint, 800m run, long jump and shot put, and then times will be compared with the Trials from other USA locations before 6 girls and 6 boys are selected for the USA team. Athletes of all abilities are encouraged to try out.
There is no fee to participate in the Trials.
