According to Sporting Kansas City Technical Director and Manager Peter Vermes, 16-year-old Gianluca Busio is not headed anywhere anytime soon. As reported by our own Mike Kuhn (@mikedkuhn) on Twitter and Chad C Smith (@PlayFor90) at thebluetestament.com, last Friday, former New England Revolution star and US National Team vet Taylor Twellman blatantly stated that he would “be shocked if Busio is [at Sporting KC] much longer” due to many “people that are calling for his services” while Twellman was serving as an MLS SuperDraft panelist during the league’s coverage.
Busio was signed in August of 2017 out of Sporting’s academy system. The North Carolina native, who holds an Italian passport, played 243 minutes in all competitions for the first team in 2018, scoring one goal and assisting on another in two starts and eight appearances. Speaking with Vermes after the second day of preseason on Tuesday in Scottsdale, Arizona, The Blue Testament asked, “Can you speak to the rumor that Busio will be moving abroad at some point this season?”
