Boston Red Sox’s Adam Ottavino said he’d strike out Babe Ruth, but how about Ted Williams? ‘I feel like I would do just fine’

New Red Sox reliever Adam Ottavino made headlines in 2018 when he said he believed he’d strike out Babe Ruth every time he faced him because of how advanced the modern game is. Asked Friday how he’d fare against Red Sox legend Ted Williams, Ottavino said he believes he could hold his own.

“I don’t know. It’s a different era,” Ottavino said on WEEI’s “Dale & Keefe” program. “He played after the Babe so he probably saw a little better pitching than Babe Ruth did. I don’t know. Hypothetical at this point, I guess it’s not worth weighing in, but I feel like I would do just fine.”
