The American Society of Friends of Teatro alla Scala presented a piano recital in Greenwich earlier this month featuring pianist Stefano Miceli in a program of works by Liszt, Beethoven, Gomes and Rachmaninoff. The fundraising event was chaired by Deborah Hamilton of Greenwich, who is a trustee of the Friends, a nonprofit that supports the Teatro alla Scala, an opera house in Milan, Italy. The group also encourages and provides access to the famed institution, the oldest and widely considered first among the world’s opera houses.
The recital and reception, with an audience of 75, was held at the Lake Avenue residence of Mr. and Mrs. Stefano Acunto, following a successful concert tour in Princeton and Manhattan in October, featuring the Orchestra of the Accademia della Scala under the baton of Maestro Ivan Fischer. The final gala evening at the Peter Sharpe Theater on Broadway was attended by 500 friends and fans.
