On Tuesday evenings during the warm summer months, Sharkey's Bar and Grill is bursting with activities ranging from volleyball to trivia. The main event at this Liverpool bar, however, is a sport where you and your friends can socialize in an open field while beer gets delivered on golf carts.
It's a sport where the coveted prize at the end of the 10-week season is a keg with a shiny silver man on top. What is this sport? It's turbo bocce, and anyone can join. What started as 16 friends playing two-on-two bocce ball in their parents' backyard has since turned into a three-night event every week with approximately 150 teams.
