Union-Endicott graduate Sonny Spera is one of five who will be honored at the 55th annual Syracuse University LetterWinner of Distinction event Nov. 1 at the OnCenter. Joining Spera will be Rob Edson, Gordon Gronkowski, Brad Kotz and Kerri Potts. Those to be honored succeeded athletically and after graduation from SU.
On the court, Spera averaged 2.7 points, 1.1 assists and 1.0 rebounds over 83 games with the then-named Orangemen. Syracuse qualified for the NCAA tournament in three of his four seasons. He was co-captain his senior season in 1984-85. Spera pursued dentistry and graduated in the top 10 of his class from Buffalo Dental School in 1989, the year he entered private practice.
