Chelsea Music Festival
Tuesday, June 18, 2013 from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM (EDT)
New York, NY
CMF 2013 presents this Chelsea Outbursts concert and special evening at The Italian Academy at Columbia University that celebrates 400 years of music from Italy and Britain. Highlights include a Corelli Concerto Grosso, an oboe concerto by Corelli's great admirer Giovanni Platti, Elizabethan madrigals with ensemble amarcord, and Variations on an Elizabethan Theme for string orchestra that feature arrangements by six leading 20th century British composers including Benjamin Britten.
On view will be an exhibit examining the landscape of New York's Chelsea neighborhood by CMF 2013 Visual Artist-in-Residence Maurizio Galimberti, known for reinventing the "photographic mosaic" and his Polaroid portraits of celebrities including Chuck Close, Julian Schnabel, Sting and Johnny Depp.
A celebratory Italian-themed reception will follow the concert.
