Ciao from Rome to all the friends of We the Italians!
It’s July and, like usual, it’s very hot in Italy. We are working on very important things, starting the first Columbus Day ever organized in Italy. It will be in Siena on October 12, which is the Italian official Columbus Day. Please sign our Manifesto in defense of Columbus, here.
On June 10 We the Italians signed a partnership with Roberto Giovannini, General Director of the magazine of the Association “I Borghi più belli d’Italia”. Our magazine already has one article a month about these beautiful small towns all over Italy: now we’ll help their magazine, which is in Italian and in English to be distributed in the United States, where every Italian American can read about wonderful places, traditions and recipes spread all over the boot, with amazing monuments, landscapes, churches. It was from the small towns that usually came those Italian pioneers who crossed the ocean and arrived in the New World, hoping for a better future, leaving beautiful places. With this magazine, we suggest you to browse through the thousands of small villages belonging to the Associazione I Borghi più belli d’Italia.
On July 9 in Rome at the beautiful Chiostro della Cisterna of Palazzo San Macuto at the Italian Chamber of Deputies there was a presentation of the Photo Exhibition “Italoamericani: Ambasciatori di Italianità” with photos made by the Sicilian photographer Franco Maricchiolo. We the Italians was there, together with a very important audience both Italian and Italian American, and a couple of very dear friends of ours: Josephine Maietta, President of AIAE, and Mike Pilla, Director of Patrimonio Italiano TV. Check out the photos and the video about this important ceremony.
On July 12 another important event regarding an Italian American Organization happened in Rome. Our friends of the Italian American Baseball Foundation (IABF), headed by the great Joe Quagliano, in association with Federazione Italiana Baseball Softball (FIBS) held a baseball prospect showcase for Italian high school athletes desiring the opportunity to study and play baseball in America with the assistance of IABF and college-sponsored scholarships. It seemed to be in the US, with hitters and pitchers playing the most American sport at all! Beautiful.

Finally, the Italian proverb. This month the letter is “F” and the proverb of the month of May 2019 is: Finchè c’è vita, c’è speranza” ("Where there's life, there's hope")
That’s all for now. So stay tuned, fasten your seat belt and enjoy the ride. The future’s so bright, we gotta wear shades!
