Everything Italian will be the order of the day next week when the annual Hoboken Italian festival opens its run. A fixture in the city for more than 90 years, the festival will return on September 6 and continue to September 9 along Sinatra Drive and at the park on Hoboken's Waterfront. It features four days of Italian traditions, live music, multiple vendors, and a mind-blowing amount of Italian food. Zeppoles, sausage sandwiches and cannoli are just the start.
The Hoboken Italian Festival has been celebrated since the late 1920s and is an extension of a 600 year old celebration from Italy. The festival always takes place the weekend after Labor Day. Not only does the festival feature a day long procession through the streets of Hoboken, but also a reenactment of the "Blessing of the Fleet" in the Hudson River.
